The Washington State Legislature passed, and Governor Jay Inslee signed, an extension to the REET 2 spending authority bill that allows up to $1 million to be allocated to affordable or homeless housing. This extension alleviates the challenge with the previous bill, which had a sunset of June 30, 2019. Now extended into 2024, this is a great piece of financial flexibility for counties and municipalities allows local funding to support local affordable housing projects.
AHA’s sincere thanks and congratulations to House Bill 1219/Senate Bill 5195’s sponsors, the state Legislature, and Governor Inslee!
